Hahaha I heard someone was loading / unloading a boat at the dock and their pet dog was wading around / swimming in the water and a muskie nabbed it.

Very nice for the angler on a Pineview beast.

We had this same exact picture that KSL showed of this angler and TM sent to us roughly 3-4 weeks ago on about 9 August. Word of large TM catches gets around fast with us TM anglers…Nice fish without a doubt. However, a record not at all maybe a PB for this angler.

We have seen and personally caught a 51” and beast and numerous others pushing 50” fish. We've also seen a photo of a 51.25 caught by a DWR employee who sent the photo to us same year we boated the 51" in 2007.

Now A Catch and release (C&R) goes by the length and angling (keep fish) goes by weight. For C&R this fish is 2.25" short. Not a record-breaking fish per KSL reporting, nice fish yes, but no record breaker.

Next per the article, its stated the angler has caught many fish 36” range. Well folks a serious/seasoned TM angler won’t use 12# mono and fight the fish for 20 minutes in the heat of the summer with 75 degree plus water temps. I can tell you when this picture was sent to us it was 75 pushing 77 degree water temps and several days pushing close to 80 degrees. Nice that they said the fish swam away but what they fail to mention is there is a delayed mortality especially fighting the fish for 20 minutes with 12# mono again per the article.

Now we were on PV fishing after we got this picture sent 9 Aug and hmmm per my relocation probably 48-72 hours later doing out usual PV fishing I see something off in the distance with birds around it…we mosey over and see this HUGE TM floating. We both look at each other and say this fish is close if not over a 50” plus fish.

This floater had the basic same profile as the fish in the KSL photo and same photo sent to us early August. The fish we saw was bloated where the upper portion of its body was floating a good 2-3’ if not more on the surface and the rest of the body curved under the water…thought about picking it up and doing the MM ritual and decided if we see it again we would…well the PV Marine Patrol zoomed by us and stopped where this fish would be as you couldn’t miss it.

We kept on fishing and made our way back to the vicinity of where we saw the fish as we were going to pick it up and properly dispose of it but no fish to be found and to this day we believe the Officer picked it up. We worked this area for an hour and never saw this floater again and like I said you couldn’t miss it at all.

Was it the same fish????…hmmm sure had the same profile based on the photos we had sent and the one shown of KSL…same area on PV where the angler pictured caught this beast…I’ll be honest I highly doubt that fish is now swimming in PV.

All the same, congrats to the angler I’m sure a PB for him. I’d strongly suggest if this angler and or his father reads this forum and fishes for TM regularly per the article stated they do, that he and his father seriously consider upgrading from 12# mono and try to get the fish to the boat in less than 20 minutes when water temps are above 75 degrees as they were during the beginning of August…again congrats to this angler on a PB. ;) ;)
We never get skunked...its the fish that get skunked they just keep missing our lures....
