Last year I caught Whitefish for the first time in my life... according to what I've heard, the +16-17 inchers we got are monsters compared to what people find in the weber. We sortof lucked into them but we did quite well once we changed up a few presentation techniques. I dont think they are as easy to catch in open water as being on ice in a fixed location. I am planning a few trips dedicated to just catching them this coming winter.
They tasted really good, very mild tasting meat sortof like cod.
Anyone target these fish when ice fishing?
