My Turkey from '11

No posts in this forum? Better fix that hehe. Here is my 2011 Turkey, shot in Utah's central region. Stumbled into it walking up over a ridge at 30 yards in a snow storm, it lifted off like a pheasant and I put a load of 5's into it. It went out of sight over the ridge so I ran up and over after it, and found him standing there next to some sage looking pretty wobbly, but still like he was going to lift off again. Another round and down he went.

He was an old beat up bird, not worth mounting but still I wanted to do something... so I ended up buying a simple cheap DIY mount at cabelas. It was pretty easy actually and doesnt look too bad for a redneck mounting job .

good looking bird i got my 2012 tom the same way walking down a dirt road....... after hiking my a## off. there were 2 of them just walking the road. once they seen me they flew but one did not get so lucky

Awesome. General season is almost on us. You ready for some hot action? The UWC youth hunt starts this weekend, and should be a ton of fun. Several of us are returning to guide these young hunters. IMO the turkey hunt is a great way to get kids into hunting.

Donated. The youth buy an over the counter turkey tag. The UWC provides the CWMU property, guides, lodging, and food for two weekends of hunting. It's pretty cool.
