Instead of boiling your corned beef try this. Place your rinsed corned beef in a deep baking dish,add your red potatoes,onions,carrots,cover air tight with foil,place in a 250 degree oven,let cook for 4 hours(based on a 3-4 lb piece).When done,let rest for 5 minutes,then slice thin against the grain of the meat.Boil up your cabbage and it is wonderful.Your spuds and carrots assume some of the corned beef flavor.Try it.
