Mussels are now confirmed to be present in Lake Powell. So if you're planning a trip in the near future you will be required to decontaminate your water craft meaning letting it sit for the required period of time being spring thats 18 days and summer is 7 days during fall/winter its 30 days or having it professionally decontaminated.
Here's a link for reading as a refresher on Utah decontamination.

I think its a good idea to decontaminate boats, but people forget anything that enters the water can have the larvae, waders, float tubes, fishing bobbers etc etc. I know alot of people who "puddle hop" shooting ducks from many spots in a day and carry mud on their waders or felt soles from one spot to another. I also wonder about wildlife like ducks who can carry larvae from one spot to another.
Sad to see the introduction for sure. Hopefully it can remain contained.
