We took a chance and braved the weather...heard thunder a couple times but never saw any lightening and I'm sure there was lightening. Got rain and that was it.
Got this one and we thought it looked skinny in comparison to others we caught in this size range...mid 30s. Went to measure and saw this nasty abscess growth in its mouth. Probably from a previous hookup that busted off is what we were thinking. Wish we could've done something for it. Hopefully whatever is in there will eventually find its way out...but highly doubtful based on the size of this abscess.
Lost another right at the boat. Changed up tactics and had some powerful hits but no hookup. Then finally the drag goes off and grabbed the rod outta holder and its FISH-ON. Nice thick chunky one to boot. Got to the net cut hooks and let relax in bottom of net for a minute or so.
You can see this one also had a previous wound on the side of its mouth from a previous hookup. This fish looked much healthier that the other one for sure and swam off with a huge splash of the tail to the depths below.
Then to top the trip off as we're headed in captured on cell phone a pic of a body surfer...no one really knows why Tiger Muskies do this but we see this often.
All in all besides the early morning storms that moved through it turned out to be a very nice day...early morning storms kept the googan rec boaters at bay for a good portion of the day...but by the time we called it that was a whole different story. Until next report TIGHT LINES ALL...
