Our First Hard Deck 2013 Adventure

The earliest we've been on the ice here in Utah at least for the body of water we're are used to fishing a whole lot and you know where that is... . Got on the hard deck later than usual roughly 0930...air temp showing 8* on truck.
Where we finally punched holes found the clear ice at maybe 4" with about 4" of cloudy ice. Thinking maybe this upcoming week will venture out with ice chariot...but still a little leery...did see an ATV but he wasn't slowing down and zoomed out and back to shore. Did see other ATV and possibly snowmobile tracks where we launched from but appeared they didn't venture to far. No slush at all and nice to have the ice cleats on as frozen slush layer had places that were slick including the trek to the ice.
Fished the deeper water we knew was there and after the walk out punched the first hole showing at 30'. Other holes a titch lower maybe 28' registering on flashers.
Fishing was a little slow by our standards for panfish but we did manage 1/2 a dozen Perch 7-8" and 20 plus Crappies largest going 12" caught by partners son whose home on leave from the Navy...that was way cool to see him get that slabbo. All other Crappie registered on the dink-o-meter larger ones 6-8" we kept for a nice dinner. It was a nice first outing for sure.
A couple pics:
So for the K2 family it was a very good outing...
